The “Go-To” Relocation Resource for Military Families

The “Go-To” Relocation Resource for Military Families

Moving Beyond the Cube: The Changing Face of the Modern Office

For military families, Permanent Change of Station, also known as PCS, is an inevitable part of life. And, regardless of whether a family is moving for the first time, or has been relocated multiple times, it can be an emotionally and physically challenging experience.

King Relocation Services is proud to support our military families and understands that even the simplest of moves can be stressful on parents, children, and even pets. Since 1955, we have moved hundreds of military families, and we know how to navigate the complexities associated with the rules and regulations pertaining to PCS orders.

For example, we know that there are different allowances when it is an overseas PCS order versus a domestic PCS order. And, in the event that temporary duty en route, etc. is assigned, the reimbursement or allowable expenses for the move can change. Also, we know that while the government will pay most costs associated with a PCS move, there are some costs that may not be reimbursed, including temporary lodging or some travel expenses.

If you, or someone you know, has received PCS orders there are a few things you must do to begin the relocation process:

1) Contact your installation office. Typically located on base, they will be able to tell you what allowances the government will be providing for your move. Knowing this will help you to make the right decisions about how to best handle your relocation.
2) Gather information. You will need a map of your new location and base, along with base gate hours, base phone numbers and addresses prior to scheduling the move.
3) Do your research. Find out which relocation companies are assigned to your move. Generally there are multiple resources due to rate filings. Once you know who they are, and if you have a choice, then ask for referrals from friends and family, contact your local Better Business Bureau, or check out Websites such as Angie’s List for ratings.
4) Schedule your PCS move. You should contact your chosen moving company as soon as possible to start scheduling your move.

At King Relocation Services, we know that you have many options when it comes to selecting a moving company. But, we also know that when military families count on us, they can rest assured in knowing that we will help them make their next PCS move, their best move.

Our personal customer service coordinators are ready to help you plan your move from start-to-finish. We will make a site visit, provide you with verification of our licensing and insurance, ensure that you understand your rights and responsibilities associated with your PCS move and any special provisions outlined in your PCS orders, and provide clean, marked vehicles and friendly staff to execute your relocation.

For military families with overseas PCS orders, King Relocation Services has a dedicated international relocation team that understands the unique challenges associated with moving to a new country.
